You want to put your best foot forward. If you’re honest with yourself, though, you need to put your best foot forward. Your company, your product, and your team need to stand out for what they are. The indirect communications you have through the written word often provide that vital first impression. Let me help you make it count.
Just because your personnel is limited doesn't mean that your impact should be. I specialize in working with startups, nonprofits, and other small businesses, because you probably already have more jobs than your title implies. Having someone work with your company instead of for you frees up time and resources on your end so that you can do more of what makes your business valuable to begin with.

There is no comprehensive list of services offered, because I tailor my services to suit your specific needs. Whether you need an eye-catching description for your new app, content for a web page, edits for a newsletter, or anything in between, I can maximize the influence of the written word in your favor. If you need it done, chances are I’ve worked on something similar before. Nothing that contributes to growth and success is unimportant, which is why no need of your company is too small.

What every writer wants varies slightly. What every writer needs varies considerably. I'm here to help you with both. I serve a wide variety of editing needs, but I am first and foremost a writer, which means that I've been where you are. Whether you know something in your piece just isn't working but you aren't quite sure what, or if you simply need a fresh set of eyes to check the details, you will get the honest feedback and respect of a fellow published writer.

Depending on where you are in the process with your manuscript, look through the choices listed below to see which is the right fit for you. We'll talk through your project before I get the process started, because no one knows what you want this project to look like more than you. I always start by discussing the project with the author to make sure that we move forward in the right direction with what is best for you and your writing. Words continue long after we do. They hold potential of explanation, learning, and insight into just exactly how deeply certain events can affect another human being. The written word offers an entrance into a microcosm of existence where we may be physically safe but are emotionally and intellectually vulnerable. Written words can teach us about others, but they can also teach us about ourselves-- often more than we think is possible.
In other words, I’m a great, big language nerd. The subtleties of it and the humor in it have always been fascinating to me, so I continue asking not how it works, but why. I have studied language and literature, written stories and dissertations, taught rhetoric and persuasion, and in all of it, how we communicate to one another as humans has been the ultimate allure.
I’ve worked as a writer, editor, or proofreader in varying capacities since I graduated high school. I earned my B.A. in English with an emphasis in creative writing and an M.A.T. in Secondary English Education. Since then, I’ve tutored, I’ve taught, and I’ve worked as a procedural/technical writer. I’ve played guitar with a small jazz combo and used the concepts of "teaching" improvisation to examine how to teach creativity to my high school students. I have published short stories and am writing my first novel. I have learned to utilize parallelism and anaphora in my writing for effect (and utilize meta-humor when I decide to be self-deprecating).
While reading and writing are two of my great loves, I also enjoy playing music, backpacking, making puns, and drinking all coffee in sight. It is also my opinion that nothing can beat a sunny day with Hemingway and a hammock, except for perhaps making silly faces at my newborn daughter and seeing her smile.
